About

Marta Gromek (born 1978) is a graduate of the European Academy of Photography in Warsaw, where she completed her studies in Artistic Photography in 2011. In 2024, she earned a degree in the History of Modern Art from the Institute of Art at the Polish Academy of Sciences. She lives and works in Warsaw. She primarily creates her projects using an analog camera, which, as she says, requires great discipline and compels the photographer to carefully consider each frame. Her work focuses on the world of emotions and feelings, aiming to draw the viewer’s attention to spiritual experiences. In 2012, she received a grant to co-finance a photographic exhibition from Joanna Skrzydlewska, a Member of the European Parliament. Her project PLAY was presented in March 2013 at Foto Cafe 102 in Łódź and in May at Foto Relax in Warsaw. In June 2013, her project TRACES was showcased as part of an exhibition accompanying Photofestival 2013 at the Opus Gallery in Łódź. The project MASKS was featured in June 2024 at Lotna Gallery as part of a group exhibition of graduates from the History of Modern Art program at the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Her latest project, TIMELESS, was exhibited in 2024 in London during the Contemporary Art Fair 2024 – 13th Edition and in 2025 at the Defabryka Gallery in Warsaw.
